Philosophy for Children (P4C)
Philosophy for Children (P4C) is a teaching and learning approach based on enquiry which allows pupils to develop their own philsophical questions. Children can develop a range of thinking skills and learn effective communication particularly finding the right way to disagree with others. P4C has no right or wrong answer but gives us all a chance to share what we think based on a stimulus (a video, story, piece art etc). At Bishop Martin we use P4C in all areas of the curriculum.
Each week one class creates a question for 'Philosophy Friday'. The question is shared with out whole school community and discussed by the children at lunchtime. The last question was created by reception, what do you think?
Below are some of our favourite resources and stimuli, you can use these at home to practise your thinking skills.
