to the website for Bishop Martin Church of England Primary School in Liverpool.
We have just finished an extra-ordinary academic year and I would like to thank all the parents / carers who have been so supportive over the past term. We were delighted that we could welcome all our Y6, Y1 and Reception children back before the end of summer term and for lots of our key worker families we have been open and educating children the entire summer term since schools were instructed to close by the government so school has been busy although much quieter without everyone in. We have really missed the children who were unfortunately unable to return who wanted to!
We are still in unchartered territory but the plans are that ALL children will be back to school in September. To all our existing parents, I wrote to you in July to update you with our plans for September. Our term officially starts on 2nd September 2020 for all Y1 - Y6. For our new reception families you will know that reception class start on 7th September 2020.
My plan is to write to all families again at the end of August with an update on school opening. If the R value (reproduction value) for COVID 19 remains low then the plans I shared in July will remain the same, all children will return in year group bubbles wearing their school uniform. In normal circumstances, existing families will know that we usually have a breakfast club open from 7.30am and after school provision until 6pm. For the first week (2-4th September) the plan is for breakfast club to be open for those who really need it from 7.45am (those who need to be in work) - please book this if you need this provision via Parentmail (Y1 - Y6). We would request that if you don't need this service the first week please do not use it as breakfast club is logistically a challenge particularly keeping children in their year group PODs / bubbles. I promise I will review the provision for breakfast club and after school club the first week and confirm the week beginning 7th September as soon as I can. For new reception families, we will be sending you log ins once your child has joined our school and then you can book breakfast club etc.
If the government guidelines remain the same, it is likely we will be open 7th September from 7.30am for breakfast club and that we will provide after school club provision too - it is the cleaning of the rooms when a class finishes for after school club and the cleaning of the rooms after breakfast club for children who are learning in school that is one of the challenges, the second challenge is keeping staff within the same constant bubble / POD where possible. The guidance may change before September hence why I will write to you all again at the end of August.
For now I wish you all a lovely summer holiday and look forward to seeing all children back in school early September.
We do have annual school improvement priorities that we will be focussing on as a whole school for next year. For the academic year 2020-2021, our whole school priorities are:
- To ensure our ‘inspire’ curriculum supports children’s mental health and well-being.
- To further improve the teaching and learning of reading and writing to raise standards for all.
- To develop leadership at all levels (including pupil leaders) to impact positively on our ‘Inspire’ curriculum.
We hope that our website gives you all the information you need about our school. Please contact the school if you need any further information. Please note we are on our holidays now until 1st September 2020.
If you would like to enquire about a place for a child at our school, please get in touch via our contact page.
Thank you for visiting!
