Year 3 2018 - 2019
Hello and welcome to the Year 3 class page!
Year 3's class teacher is Miss Trouton. We have lots of exciting activities and learning experiences ahead of us this year...we can't wait and are look forward to sharing this with you all!
Here are a few handy reminders:
- To help your child excel, we would encourage you to read regularly with them at home; this will help promote an enjoyable and positive attitude to reading. Please also ensure that book bags are in school every day, along with your child's reading book and reading record. Children will be given the opportunity to change their book within the school day when required. When your child reads at least 5 out of 7 nights a week they will get a sticker which will go towards their Bronze, Silver and Gold reading certificate awards!
- This term, Year 3 will have PE on Tuesay and swimming on Monday. Please ensure that your child has the correct kit with them on these days, including appropriate pumps/trainers.
- Maths and English homework will be given out on a Friday and is due in on the following Tuesday. Children will also be given new spellings every week, which they are encouraged to learn both at home and in school.
- Children are also encouraged to make use of the great learning apps that we have been using in school this year, including Mathletics, MyMaths, Spellodrome, Read Theory and Squeebles.
Please feel free to come and speak to either of us at the end of the day with any queries!
Each week, we are going to have a focus on a different times table. We will be practising these in class every Friday within our calculations lessons. We will do this through various games and songs to help improve the speed of our recall.
This week we are focussing on our 4 times tables. Below is a link to a video that we have used in class to help.
