Year 4 2019 - 2020
The Year 4 class teacher is Miss Steen. We have lots of exciting learning opportunities planned for this term and you will be able to read all about what we get up to in Year 4 on this class page, as well as seeing lots of pictures of us!
Just a few reminders;
- We are actively encouraging children to read as much as possible for pleasure at home. Please help encourage this by ensuring that reading book bags are in school every day with their reading book and reading record. Children will be given the opportunity to change their book within the school day when needed. Please listen to your child read as much as possible and make a comment where necessary in their record if they struggled on anything in particular so we can support them. When your child reads at least 5 out of 7 nights a week they will get a sticker which will go towards their Bronze, Silver and Gold reading certificate awards!
- We will be doing PE on a Monday and a Thursday during the Summer term. Please ensure that your child has the correct kit in on these days, including appropriate pumps/trainers, and that all items of clothing are named clearly. PE is compulsory and all children are expected to join in. Please also ensure that your child has a pair of trainers in school in a plastic bag each day to complete the Daily Mile.
- Your child will receive English and Maths homework each week on a Friday. This is expected to be brought back by the following Tuesday. Children will also be given spellings weekly.
Please do not hesitate to come and ask any questions or with any issues; the Year 4 team are always happy to help!
Each week, we are going to have a focus on different times tables. We will be practising these in class every Friday within our calculations lessons. We will do this through various games and songs to help improve the speed of our recall.
This week we are focussing on our 4 AND 8 times tables. Below is a link to a video that we have used in class to help.
