We Serve Week 2022

At Bishop Martin we are always looking for ways to give our pupils a voice to speak out about the world we live in and become global citizens through their actions. Each year we hold 'We Serve' week which encompasses all of our 12 Christian Values.  Pupils are given the chance to chose a local, national or global issue they would like to change.  The classes then chose a charity or cause to support and over the course of the week each class will take part in an activity to support their cause and possibly raise money. The aim of the week is to show children that they can make a difference and have their voice heard, any donations at all are gratefully received to support the children in their mission to serve.

This week gives our pupils an opportunity to understand how to be responsible, respectful, active citizens who contribute positively to society and enhances pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development.

We raised an amazing £881 for various causes!

Reception supported Asylum Link Merseyside as they wanted to support people who come to our city. They did a sponsored readathon and collected donations to be given to families.

Year 1 completed a danceathon in aid of the RSPCA.

Year 2 ran their own sponsored dash to raise money for Christian Aid working together with St Peter's Church. The focus for this class was supporting homelessness in our city.

Year 3 completed a sponsored silence to raise money for the Alzheuimer's society.

Year 4 wanted to support sick children in the local area and chose to support Claire House. They took part in a sponsored walk with our school dog Heidi.

Year 5 completed their own mini sports event to raise money for Cancer Research.

Year 6 chose to support the British Red Cross by paying to throw wet sponges at their teachers.
