Courageous Advocacy
Courageous Advocacy
At Bishop Martin we encourage and support all our children to be "courageous advocates". This means children support causes which are important and meaningful to them.
The issues that children advocate may be a large global issue or a smaller issue closer to home that could even be personal.
At Bishop Martin we believe that courageous advocacy links directly with our Christian Values through thoughtfulness, compassion, courage, justice, service and generosity.
We believe this will give children a sense of belonging, understanding of the world and promotes independence and perseverance, allowing children to understand the world they live in and the change they can bring to make their world a better place.
Our Christian vision inspires our school community to learn together, with God's love.
We are comitted to supporting New Hope School, Uganda. Children are keen to fundraise and support New Hope School and local communities in Uganda.
Global Neighbours
We are proud to be a Bronze Global Neighbour School working towards our silver award accreditation.
Christian Aid’s Global Neighbours programme celebrates schools which are helping pupils learn about global poverty and the Christian responsibility to tackle it, as well as giving them the tools to play a confident part in creating a fairer world. Global Neighbours isn’t just about raising money or picking up litter; it’s about gaining a deeper understanding of global issues and how we can all play a part in creating a more just world.
Think about the actions your pupils have taken and talk about examples which show how they have engaged with decision-makers and encouraged them to help make a fairer world.
The link between thinking globally and acting locally.
How they have worked to make the world fairer (rather than simply raise
money).
How the pupils understanding of the world around them has changed and the impact it has had on them.
