PSHE is an important part of our curriculum as gives pupils the knowledge, skills, and attributes they need to keep themselves healthy and safe. We cover a range of different topics across the course of the year.
We have split our longterm plan into three core themes: Health and Wellbeing, Relationships and Living in the Wider World (including economic wellbeing and some aspects of careers education). We cover a range of topics within each area and use enrichment opportunities to ensure our pupils are given the knowledge and skills to keep themselves healthy and safe and prepared for life and the world of work.
HeartSmart is a resource we use to enrich our delivery of PSHE. It's aim is to build resilience, strengthen emotional intelligence and develop active empathy in the hearts of our children. Fundamentally it is about loving and accepting ourselves as well as loving and responding to others.
The programme is focused around Boris the Robot that helps to motivate children to become actively involved with the programe and learning.
There are 5 themes (known as 'High Five') that Boris shares throughout the year which are linked to the principles of feeling valued, considering others and showing empathy, forgiveness, being truthful and not giving up when faced with challenge.
